UKAD statement regarding Taekwondo athlete Jade Jones

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has today shared the outcome of a case relating to GB Taekwondo athlete Jade Jones, following the closure of all appeal windows* and in accordance with the mandatory reporting requirements in the UK Anti-Doping Rules.

UKAD can confirm that Ms Jones committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) after ‘refusing or failing to submit to sample collection’. Following a full UKAD investigation and Results Management process, the applicable period of Ineligibility has been eliminated on the basis that Ms Jones bore No Fault or Negligence for the ADRV. UKAD reached this conclusion having due regard to the specific and exceptional circumstances of Ms Jones’ case, fully supported by all the available evidence, including compelling independent medical expert reports and available medical records.

UKAD confirms that Ms Jones is not currently serving a ban and is eligible to continue her participation in sport.

UKAD publishes a redacted version of the reasoned decision in this matter as certain details pertaining to Ms Jones’ medical status are inherently sensitive and confidential.

The issued decision is available to read below.
