Collaboration is essential: UKAD Chief Executive Jane Rumble's 2022 end-of-year message
In an end-of-year video message addressed to national governing bodies, athletes and their entourages, UKAD’s Chief Executive Jane Rumble recalls her first year in office and thanks all those involved in clean sport for their collaboration in 2022.
This year UKAD has moved forwards with the Assurance Framework – created in 2021 and the primary mechanism through which sports demonstrate to UKAD their compliance with the National Anti-Doping Policy. UKAD has delivered on an intelligence-led testing programme that has returned to the levels of testing pre-pandemic. In addition UKAD has performed the role of Anti-Doping contractor at a number of UK major sporting events this year, including The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Rugby League World Cup England 2021.
Jane Rumble’s message to all partners within Sport and Anti-Doping is to continue the collaboration further in 2023 and to innovate to bring about change:
“The Collaboration, the partnership is absolutely essential – we can’t do this alone. UKAD is here to support, to advise and to share our expertise, and to make sure that sports bodies are doing what they need to do under the National Anti-Doping Policy.
The Assurance Framework is about working in partnership – that is the step change that we’re seeing in our operating model. The relationships with sports governing bodies have been through a year of foundation and a year of finding our feet of how we best work together.
Now we’ve got those strong foundations, there’s so much more we can achieve. Working together, we are going to be all the better to serve clean athletes well.”
