The story of Ben Johnson is suggested to have sparked the significant increase in the governance of doping in sport.

It was anticipated to be one of the most contended 100 metre Olympic finals of all time. However, American Ben Johnson seemed unchallenged after beating rival Carl Lewis and setting a new world record of 9.79 seconds. After testing positive on his post-Game drug test, he was stripped of his Gold medal and his new world record.

Listen to Steve Cram, Paula Radcliffe and UK Anti-Doping's Chief Executive Andy Parkinson share their thoughts of the Johnson drug scandal.
