When to apply for a TUE

There are specific requirements for when an athlete needs to apply for a TUE depending on their competition level. The search options below determine when an athlete needs to apply to UK Anti-Doping for a TUE.

International athletes (as defined by their International Federation) should submit TUE applications to their International Federation.

TUEs for National level athletes should be submitted to UK Anti-Doping for review. Only in emergency situations (e.g. allergic reaction, exacerbation of asthma, onset of bell's palsy) should treatment begin without TUE approval.
Wheelchair Rugby Wheelchair Rugby Retroactive A Retroactive TUE is required for athletes at the following levels of competition:

1. All Domestic Events (e.g. Super League)

RETROACTIVE PROCEDURE FOR A TUE
Players have five (5) working days to make a Retroactive TUE application to UK Anti-Doping following the receipt of an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF).
Wrestling N/A Advance A TUE is required in advance of being selected for Doping Control at the following levels of competition:    

1. Athletes in UK Anti-Doping’s National Registered Testing Pool
2. GB National Performance Squad
3. National Development Squad

CWG 2018

Athletes who are selected for a Home Nations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales) 2018 Commonwealth Games Squad are required to start applying for TUEs for acute and chronic medical conditions as soon as their selection is confirmed.

Emergency TUEs

TUE requests for athletes in the categories above should be submitted to UK Anti-Doping for review in advance of starting treatment. Only in emergency situations (e.g. allergic reaction, exacerbation of asthma, onset of bell’s palsy) should treatment begin without TUE approval.
