Sport is an exciting activity to be part of and you are already showing talent within your chosen sport. Who knows, you may even make it all the way to the elite level. To keep sport clean, all athletes have a responsibility to protect the integrity of sport. Our 100% me programme works to ensure that all athletes from beginner to elite compete clean.

Your Role in Clean Sport

You’re at an early stage in your sporting journey so you don’t need to know everything, but you do need to start learning about anti-doping.

Anti-doping is about ensuring that athletes compete in sport based on their own talent, hard work and dedication, without cheating through the use of performance enhancing drugs or methods.

Making the Right Choices

Think about how much you enjoy sport and what it means to you. Every decision you make now will affect how well you do. Always think about what being a great athlete means. Our 100% me programme can support you in understanding key areas of anti-doping to help you make the right choices.

Below are some key areas that athletes at your stage need to be aware of:

Personal Responsibility

Clean sport relies on all athletes taking personal responsibility for what they consume and what is in their body. This is known as ‘strict liability’. It is something that, as an aspiring athlete, you should start to be aware of.

Behind Every Athlete is a Team of People

As an athlete you'll be aware that there are lots of people supporting your sporting career and the journey you’re taking. You need your coach and probably your parents and teachers to help you. They can help you to be clean too. Ask them questions if you’re unsure about anything. Help others by telling them that you are an athlete and need to abide by the anti-doping rules.
